Douglas Welbat (born April 25, 1957, in West Berlin) is a German film producer, radio drama performer, actor, audiobook narrator, director, voice-over artist, and screenwriter. Douglas Welbat hails from a family of actors and is the son of Alexander Welbat and Siegrid Hackenberg. After completing his acting training under Karl Paryla, he initially worked in the theater before establishing himself primarily as a radio drama writer, voice actor, and producer. In the early 1980s, together with Katja Brügger and Bertram von Boxberg, he wrote the radio drama adaptations of the Dan Shocker series *Larry Brent* and *Macabros* for the label Europa—works that achieved widespread popularity. As a voice actor, Welbat became particularly well-known for his numerous roles in radio drama series such as *Die drei ???* and *Masters of the Universe*. He is also familiar to a broad audience as the German voice of Cookie Monster in *Sesame Street*—a role that his father had previously voiced. Furthermore, he has worked extensively as a dubbing artist, lending his voice to actors including William Hurt, Richard Karn, and Stellan Skarsgård. In addition to his work as a voice actor and writer, Welbat also serves as a producer and managing director of the production companies movieCompany and Zipfelmützenfilm GmbH. His son, Daniel Welbat, is also active in the film and music industries.
